It is well known that the mining hoist is one of the most important equipment inmines and its reliable operation is directly related to the safety production andeconomic benefits in mines. Since the direct introduction of the mining hoist in ourcountry, this kind of machinery has gone through many generations, and its structureand safety performance have been greatly improved. However, there are varyingdegrees of unavoidable security risks existing in mining hoists because of flaws of thedevice itself and negligence in production and management procedure. Throughonline testing can be used to understand operational states of the mining hoist, themost popular testing method is the single parameter test with the single task.Therefore, the research on a system monitoring a variety of parameters in theoperation of the mining hoist turns out to be very essential. With PLC technology,advanced sensors and powerful analysis software, this essay presents a system whichmonitors five key parameters at the same time, and masters the operation of themining hoist to guarantee a safe process of production.This essay mainly contains the following procedures:First of all, it introduces the development of the mining hoist in our country andanalyzes not only the characteristics of its structures and the operations, but also theoperational principles of mining hoists appeared in different eras. The mining hoist isdeveloping to become intellectualized and automated with gradual correction andoptimization. However, there are unavoidable security risks existing in the mininghoist, not only because of the harsh environmental conditions in mines, but also thelack of maintenance, management and updates due to the limited technology amongthe workers especially those in Hunan Province. Based on this kind of situation, thisessay presents a system which monitors the operational conditions of the mining hoistonline and diagnoses safety risks in time by some intellectualized software monitoringthe conditions automatically.Secondly, this essay presents five key parameters in the operations procedureaccording to the requirement of the systematic research and appliance of the theory ofsafety monitoring technology combined with Regulations for Coal Mine Safety, onwhich the online monitoring system model for mining hoists is based.Thirdly, in this essay, the hardware structure design of online monitoring systemfor mining hoists is completed and both the hardware and software for the system areanalyzed in detail to solve the major problems occurred in the operation of the mining hoist and to ensure the safe operation by discovering potential risks.Then, data collections and analysis are achieved by adopting PLC theorycombined with programming methodology of ladder diagram language. Meanwhile,operational states of mining hoists can be automatically diagnosed by analyzing thecollected data systematically with the controlling software of upper computer.Finally, the existing deficiencies in the research are concluded and analyzed, andthe developing direction of monitoring system for mining hoists is discussed.
