Study On Health Communication In Newspaper Reports On Food Security

Food security issues connect with health and life of common people. Mass media reports on food security are an important topic of health communication. Today, as people begin attach importance to health, Mass media reports on food security can’t limit to problem exposal due to "disclose lowdown" report thought, mass media should carry out effective health communication relying on food security theme, and spread health information about food security to receivers. Mass media should pay attention to health communication, one important function of food security reports.This study start off the perspective of health communication and select three influential newspapers People’s Daily, Health Newspaper and Yangtse Evening Newspaper for the case analysis. The study will analyses and sum up the health communication parts of reports on food security on the above three influential newspapers in recent11years (from2001-01-01to2011-12-31), And review how newspaper constitute and present the health topic in food security themes reports. Besides that the study will also compare with different peculiarities and presentations about health topics in different newspapers. Finally, the study will discuss the problems of reports on food security themes and try to bring forward cuntermeasures. This study find that newspapers report mode on food security themes has been changed in recent11years, newspapers begin pay attention to health communication in food security reports. There are more and more health information about food and health topics in reports on food security. Different newspaper has different attention to health communication in food security reports, and their health topics are also different. Part organs such as People’s Daily are still pay little attention to health communication in food security themes reports, their health topics emphasizes on "health common knowledge about food security", while city newspapers such as Yangtse Evening Newspaper pay more attention to health communication and their health topics are various from ’health common knowledge about food security ’to’ emergency Health Information in outburst food security events’.This study also finds some problems and deficiencies in health communication in food security themes reports, such as lack of science and specialty. This study tries to give out some countermeasures from three aspects: health communication spreader, health information and health communication channels.
