With the progress of social ecnonmy, water pollution problems in less-developedrural areas have become increasingly prominent. It threatens the security of life andproduction. Research on this aspect is badly in need to acquire the scientific testingmethod applying to rural water environment. This article is derived fromThe National Key Technology R&D Program during The Twelfth Five-year GuidelinePeriod “Rural environmental monitoring technology integration and applicationdemonstration”, which makes the exploration about the prevailing low monitoringcapability in villages. The following conclusions had been drawn:1. Qiaokou, a typical southern town, was selected as the research object andsampled continuously in January2014. Some common indicators such as COD, DO,and nitrogen compounds were measured. Spring sampling was used to check theresult. Index relationships were suitable when the temperature ranged from8to20degrees Celsius.2. The relationship between dissolved oxygen (DO) and others had been foundout with degradation kinetics. Linear relation among total nitrogen(TN), totalphosphorus(TP), and various of nitrogen compounds was determined by utilizingtheir transformation rule in water. Statistical significance was proved by significancetest. Linear relationships and prediction intervals of the system based on DO and TNwere worked out with data software.3. The indicators were converted into three components by factor analysis inorder to retrain and simplify the pollution information maximum. It supported theconclusion that DO and TN were core indicators. So two automatic water qualitymonitors should be setted to realize the control for DO and TN, reduce the operatingand maintenance investment at the same time.This research indicates the way to establish the water environment monitoringsystem in Qiaokou village. The conclusion provides reference for optimization ofwater environmental monitoring in similar rural areas, which has great actual andexpansive significance.
