The Study On Color Collocation Design Of Nature Catalpa Chair

By studying the color design principle of nature Catalpa with three different materials fabric, metal and leather in the carrier of seats and analyzing the color design principle and materials of common seats as well as color characteristics, color design principles of nature Catalpa were summarized using inductive method. Feasibility conclusions were verified by the typical design case.The survey found that the colors of Catalpa are quite different. Mainly presented as that wood colors of different regions and different years are various. Heartwood and sapwood have obvious differences. The color of heartwood is red-brown while the sapwood is grayish brown. The differences between early wood and latewood are not obvious. In general, the color of early wood is lighter than that of latewood. Considering the differences of Catalpa, assessment method of sampling was used to extract the most representative characters of color range of nature Catalpa. According qualities Catalpa CIE1976L*a*b*colorimetric parameters, with reference to the Mussel color system, The most shallow color which are hue H to1.2YR, lightness V8, chroma C8and the deepest color which are hue H to7.3YR, lightness V5, chroma C9. Therefore, this study has drawn the conclusion that the tonal range of nature Catalpa is orange, medium to high purity, Lightness is from the lightness to tall lightness.Based on the feature and color characteristics of Catalpa seats’common matching materials fabric, leather, stainless steel, plastic, according to the color design principles and three-dimensional color characteristics constitute the relationship between design and furniture, the color design principles of Catalpa seat has been concluded as follows.1. Larger area of nature Catalpa than matching materials can improve its color brightness and saturation;2. Smaller area of nature Catalpa than matching materials should decrease the color brightness and saturation;3. If the contrast is much too strong, white (black) color can be mixed in contrasting colors in order to weaken the two sides of personality, which leads a sharp reduction in irritation;With the carrier of modern and minimalist and Japanese style seats, according to the color design principles of Catalpa seat, using different color design methods such as colorless, neutral design, colors design, analog design,68groups(excluding unreasonable ones) of color design has been conducted with nature Catalpa and fabric, metal, leather material. And the design verifies the color design principles and methods.Corresponding conclusions of the design are as follows:1. The most suitable matching materials with nature Catalpa are black, white, gray, red, blue fabric and purity, low brightness yellow fabric. It can give a natural and earthy feel. But the moderate purity, low brightness fabric are not suitable to match nature Catalpa in large area as they will produce dull and clogging psychological feelings.2. The match of nature Catalpa with white, gray metal can give a feeling of clean and simple. When it is matched with black metal, the area of metal should not be large. Due to the non-ferrous metals in mechanism, it is not suitable to match together.3. Nature Catalpa is suitable to white, black and low brightness leather in warm colors as they can give a feeling of elegance and comfort. High brightness leather in cool colors is not suitable as they may cause anxious and restless feelings.
