Our country is rich in coal production. The coal plays an important role in the national energy structure for a long time. Ensure the safe and efficient production of coal mine is the necessary requirement to assure long-term and reliable energy supply in our country. The coal industry is an accident-prone industry. Actively explore the new methods to strengthen the level of mine disaster prevention and resilience can safeguard the miners’ life safety and reduce the occurrence of accidents, it has great significance to improve the emergency ability of the mine after the accident.Refuge chamber is a newly developed emergency rescue device. This paper researches the indoor environment control and optimal design methods of the refuge chamber. Based on detail analysis to the indoor environment of the chamber, this paper presents the engineering design methods on controlling the indoor environment parameters and validating the rationality and feasibility of the methods through the experiment with real person. In order to realize the distribution rule of temperature and humidity, this paper adopts the CFD method to calculate the temperature and humidity distribution of12-person chamber and the simulation results can fit the experiment results better. In order to better organize the indoor air, this paper proposes using temperature uniformity coefficient as the evaluation indexes. Use this evaluation indexes to analyze and compare the indoor temperature and humidity uniformity and obtain the better air distribution. On this basis this paper researches the air supply ratio to make it suitable for people in different levels, gets the results that air supply ratio3:2is suitable for8people and air supply ratio2:1is suitable for4people. Both cases can satisfy the temperature and humidity requirement inside the chamber and save more refrigerating capacity.The research results can guide the engineering design and help the optimization design of the refuge chamber.
