Acylhydrazone compounds with a variety of coordination, can form the col-orful complexes. They have been exstensively investigated in recent years own-ing to their potential applications in biological activities, catalysis, optic, magn-etism, electrochemistry and functional materials. Aromatic dihydrazone complex-es have unique properties in optic and biological activities. So, aromatic dihyd-razone complexes are currently one of the important subject studied by people.Therefore, the author has carried out the study on syntheses, structures and p-roperties of zinc, copper and nickel complexes with terephthalohydrazone in th-is dissertation.Eight complexes with four kinds have been synthesized by solution reacti-ons.They are: A, znic complexes with N,N’-bis(aromatic aldehyde) terephthaloh-ydrazone:[Zn2(C22H14N4O4)(C5H5N)4]·2C3H7NO·0.5C5H5N·2H2O(1),[Zn2(C24H18N4O6)(C5H5N)4]·4H2O(2) and [Zn2(C30H18N4O4)(C5H5N)4](3); B, copper complexes-with N,N-bis(aromatic aldehyde or ketone) terephthalohydrazone:[Cu2(C24H18N4O6)(C5H5N)2](4) and [Cu2(C14H10N4O6)(C5H5N)2(H2O)2]·2H2O(5); C, nickel com-plexes with N,N-bis(aromatic aldehyde or ketone) terephthalohydrazone:[Ni2(C14H10N4O6)(C5H5N)6]·0.5C3H7NO·H2O(6) and [Ni2(C22H14N4O6)(C5H5N)6]·2C3H7NO·2H2O(7); D, Other related complex:[Cu(C16H14N2O2)](8).The crystal structures of these complexes have been studied by single-cryst-al diffraction. Some selected complexes have been characterized by element a-nalysis, IR spectra and UV spectra. The luminescent, TG and electrochemicalproperties for some complexes have been analyzed.Complexes1-3are znic complexes with N,N’-bis(aromatic aldehyde) terep-hthalohydrazone. All are binuclear zinc with five-coordinated coordination mode. The neighboring molecules in complex2and3are connected by the π π in-teractions, obtaining a two-dimensional supramolecular architecture. Aromatic d-ihydrazone coordination polymer is very rare, and only through the π π inter-actions to form this type of coordination polymer has not been reported in theliterature.Complex4-5are copper complexes with N,N-bis(aromatic aldehyde or ket-one) terephthalohydrazone. Complex4is binuclear copper with four-coordinatedcoordination configuration. But complex5binuclear copper with five-coordin-ated coordination configuration. The intermolecular hydrogen bonds of O-H Oin complex5result in the existence of an1D chain structure. Similar structur-e with aromatic dihydrazone ligand of binuclear copper complexes is rarely r-eported.Complex6-7are nickel complexes with N,N-bis(aromatic aldehyde or keto-ne) terephthalohydrazone. Both are binuclear nickel with six-coordinated coordi-nation mode. There is an extended two-dimensional network structure with a-hole structure in complex7resulting from the π π interactions. It may haspotential application value in the field of catalysis and gas adsorption. The bi-nuclear nickel complex of aromatic dihydrazone is rare reported. The complex8is a mononuclear copper complex with a square planar geometry.
