Conjugated polymers have attracted great attention due to their unique molecularstructure, novel and chic photoelectric performance and excellent thermal stability in recentyears. The reaction condition of Glaser-Hay coupling reaction is very mild. High molecularweight polymers can be achieved in a short period of time by this method. A series of distinctfeatures of linear or hyperbranched conjugated polymers can be synthesised by molecularstructure design. Which have wide application prospects in organic solar cells, chemical andbiological sensors, liquid crystal display device, high temperature resistant materials,magnetic materials and so on.In this paper, a train of novel Poly(aromatic diacetylene)s are polymerized by four kindof diyne-monomers with1,4-bis(ethynyl)-2,5-dialkoxy-p-phenylene respectively. Amongthem,3,8-bis(ethynyl)-6-(n-heptyl)-phenanthridine,5-ethynyl-8-(4-ethynyl-phenyl)-quinolineare both have novel nitrogen heterocyclic structure. The polymers are prepared throughGlaser-Hay coupling reaction, their structures and properties are characterized by IR, NMR,UV-PL, PL, TGA and CV.In this paper, the product rate of the enrire conjugated polymers are more than60%andmost above80%. Almost all the polymers are soluble in common organic solvents such aschloroform, THF, toluene. Most of the polymers have high molecular weight (up to5×104)and good heat resistance (temperature for10%weight loss can reach437℃, the carbonresidue of some polymers can rate up to62%). Upon photoexcitation, the polymers emit bluelights or blue-green lights in methylene chloride or chloroform solution., The study showsthat the conjugated polymers containing phenanthridine unit have sensitive response to protonacid and can partial recover when the protonated polymers solution were titrated with adroplet of TEA.
