A series of polydiacetylenes were synthesized by Glaser-Hay oxidative coupling reaction, owing to its mild reaction conditions and high yeild. They were widely used as light-emittingdevices, magnetic materials, heat-resisting materials, secondary nonlinear materials, chemicalsensors and so on, owing to the special properties of luminescence, electricity and Magneticof butadiyne. In this paper, a group of linear and hyperbranched poly(aromatic diacetylene)s containingtriphenylamine were polymerized of bis(4-ethynylphenyl)-phenylamine, tris(4-thynylphenyl)-phenylamine with N-octyl-3,6-diethynylcarbazole in different proportions by [2+2] and [3+2]Glaser-Hay reactions. Their structures and properties were characterized by IR, NMR, UV-Vis,TG, PL and CV. All the polymers had high molecular weight (to162914) and had a goodsolubility in common organic solvents such as toluene, THF and chloroform and so on. Theyhad excellent thermal stability. The TG analysis revealed that the onset temperatures with5%weight-loss (Td) of polymers were above465℃, the residues was75.7%after pyrolyzed at800℃. Upon photoexcitation, the polymers emitted blue lights. Measused their HOMO levelsby CV, they were found to be good candidates as hole-transporting for OLEDs.In this work, a group of electron-rich monomer and electron-defcient monomers weredesigned and synthetized. By [2+2] Glaser-Hay reactions, Poly(aromatic diacetylene)s ofdonor-acceptor structure were polymerized. Their structures and properties were characterizedby IR, NMR, UV-Vis, TG, PL and CV. Upon photoexcitation, in chloroform, Polymers ofcarbazole and oxadiazole structure emitted blue light, while polymers of carbazole andthiadiazole structure emitted green-yellow light. They both had a large stocks shift, whichcould avoid fluorescence quenching by themselves to some degree. In different solvents, polymers had an obvious solvatochromism. The thermal stability of polymers was outstanding.Temperature for5%weight loss could reach460℃. They graphitized in high yields (up to60%) when pyrolyzed at800℃. CV outcomes also showed that they had a goodhole-transporting and electron-transporting ability. The energy gap of polymers was also low.
