However, urbanization has also led directly to the surrounding area resources and energy deplete, ecological environment were greatly destroyed. In recent years, along with the continuous progress of urbanization,Wuhan has also appeared some ecological environment problems as part of central China most metropolis and the center city. Therefore, it is an important question that how to measure and deal with the relationship between the urbanization and the ecological environmrent.On the basis of related problems of urbanization and ecological environment, the paper references ecological footprint model to the urbanization development, By constructing the urbanization level and the supply and demand change of ecological footprint.and ecological profit and loss situation relation model, then it conducts the correlation analysis by SPSS software, and tries to explore the driving factors of ecological footprint and tecological profit and loss. through discussing between the urbanization and the ecological environmrent reflects the relation of urbanization and ecological environment from quantitative analysis Angle, so as to objectively show the impact that the urbanized development of wuhan do ecological environmental.The paper research results are as follows:(1) The role has changed certainly that the urbanizationgeneral level(urbanization rate) has effect on per capita of ecological footprint and ecological profit and loss situation of various ecological productive land from 1999 to 2008, and to their effect is also different, in a word,it has changed the type of land use structure of Wuhan.(2)The urbanization driving factors of per capita ecological footprint and ecological profit and loss situation is not completely the same from 1999 to 2008.The per capita of ecological footprint changes mainly dependent on urbanization rate, the third industry output value of total GDP, the second industry and the third industry value total GDP and the finished area; Per capita ecological deficit changes mainly dependent on urbanization rate, the third industry output value of total GDP, the second industry and the third industry value total GDP, the number of college students and the per capita electricity use.(3) The ecological footprint strength of Wuhan has been declining, and the drop speed has been increased from 1999 to 2008.(4) The urbanization development has caused ecological environment a lot of pressure from 1999 to 2008, ecological environment has appeared "overdraw" condition.
