In this paper, Gaize County as the research object, the vegetation Gaize County types in cold plateau desert steppe, Stipa purpurea type are the main, pad North wormwood, hard leaf Carex-- cushion Ceratoides type composition of the north. Study on remote sensing mapping and key technologies for global land cover on the project of "relying on science and technology held in 2009 by the Ministry of national 863 plan". In this paper, by the low spatial resolution remote sensing image(TM image and ETM+ image) as the main data source, combined with other auxiliary data, analysis of vegetation Gaize County coverage calculation software GLC_INFO interpolation FVC calculation and polygon based on FVC, and combining with the measuring accuracy were used to validate the map data, provide the data for the management and protection of the ecological environmental Gaize county.(1)Provide design basis and technical basis for the construction of ecological civilization project monitoring important geographic conditions information monitoring, this paper provides a principle and method of remote sensing estimation and polygon remote sensing estimation of vegetation coverage and detailed technical flow interpolation method to improve the coverage of vegetation, vegetation coverage of remote sensing estimation method has a great significance.(2)The spatial resolution of remote sensing data based on(Landsat-TM/ETM+ images),comparing the interpolation method of remote sensing estimation of vegetation coverage and polygon coverage of vegetation remote sensing estimation method, and to verify the accuracy of the test, combined with field measured data,the accuracy can reach above 85%, verify the feasibility of the two methods.(3)Grasp the scope, status of regional ecological environmental monitoring and ecological function degradation degree and area monitoring, reflect the regional ecological environment variation, to provide basic information for environmental protection in the area of natural ecology. According to the experimentation area,vegetation coverage analysis, comparison between 2010 and 2000,Gaize County, extremely low coverage area(<10%) increased,low coverage area(10%~35%) decreased, middle coverage area(35%~55%) increased, high coverage area(55%~75%) has increased, high coverage area(>75%) increased.(4) based coverage estimation results in vegetation, using the annual maximum vegetation coverage for the interannual variability of 1981-2006 years of vegetation coverage in Gaize County analysis, 26 years of vegetation cover change, the overall show a slight upward trend.(5) according to the analysis of the correlation between vegetation and climate factors in Gaize County, vegetation cover degree of correlation with the average wind speed maximum, no significant correlation with other climate factors. The influencing factors of social changes of vegetation coverage by the policy,economic development, population and human activity is more and more big,in a short period of time is the driving factors influencing vegetation cover the major changes.
