Vegetation reconstruction is an important method for ecological restoration in the mining areas with serious damage to the ecosystem. At present, the western region of carbon storage in large opencast mine ecological reconstruction of forestry ecosystem has not yet clear research status, Heidaigou Opencast Coal Mine Dump as the research object, using the method of combining field investigation and indoor analysis, The organic carbon content and organic carbon density of the soil and vegetation under 6 different vegetation types were compared and analyzed, the carbon storage was estimated, and the spatial distribution of soil carbon storage was analyzed. To explore the relationship between soil and vegetation carbon storage and soil characteristics, the aim is to provide reference for the vegetation reconstruction model selection of open pit coal mine or other similar mining area. The main results are as follows:(1)The physical and chemical indexes of the soil in the study area were improved by vegetation restoration. Soil porosity, water content, soil N, P, K content and other indicators were all increased in different degrees compared with the CK. The trends of nutrient variation in different vegetation types were basically consistent, and the degree of increase was different, which showed the aggregation of the different vegetation types.(2)The biomass of 6 plant types varies greatly, changes in the 369.44-763.57g/m2.The same type of different organ biomass and its distribution are different, The trunk and root biomass of shrub forest was higher than that of leaves and branches. The root biomass of Medicago sativa was higher than that of aboveground parts of in grassland. Aboveground biomass of Elymus dahuricus and Calamagrostis pseudophragmites was higher than that of underground roots. Total biomass was sorted as:S3>S2>S1>G2>G3>G1. The carbon content and carbon storage of different vegetation in the same organ and different organs of the same vegetation are greatly changed, carbon storage of 6 plant types between 96.00-359.57g/m2, the carbon storage of Hippophae rhamnoides and Sabina vulgaris is the largest, and is mainly distributed in the roots and trunks. The carbon storage of Medicago sativa is much larger than that of other grassland, and the carbon storage of the underground part is greater than the ground.Therefore,the ecological restoration of vegetation types should be the preferred option of Hippophae rhamnoides, abina vulgaris, Medicago sativa.(3)No matter what kind of planting is used, the soil organic carbon content, carbon density,carbon storage are increased, and the soil is in a positive direction. Carbon storage of different vegetation types showed significant differences. The soil carbon storage of shrub land is higher than that of grassland. Relative to the CK, shrub land and grassland carbon storage increased by 1.62t,1.01t, the mining area soil showed a huge carbon sink effect. The vertical distribution of soil organic carbon content was the highest in the land surface, and then decreased with the increase of the soil depth. In general, the vertical variation of soil organic carbon density is consistent with the content of organic carbon.(4)Soil factors that affect the soil organic carbon content,including the soil N content, available K, effective P,The factors that affect the vegetation biomass include soil organic matter, alkali solution nitrogen, available K, available P.
