A plasma is another state of matter, which is a combination of ions, electrons, atoms, molecules, and groups. It exists widely in nature, and it has been widely used in daily life in recent years. With more and more application value in industry, more and more attention is being focused on by the scientific community. In nature, the plasma is varied, there are naturally formed natural plasma, there are a lot of man-made artificial plasma. In daily life, people have been widely used in the production of artificial plasma, such as neon lights, etc.. Plasma technology development, but also for other scientific advances to provide new technical support, such as new materials research, environmental monitoring, new energy development, etc.. In recent years, the application of low temperature plasma is more deeply. In many fields, such as metallurgy, surface treatment and so on, it has been used in many fields. Our laboratory self-made plasma generator, produced by discharge plasma spectra, in the experiment has been spectra under different input voltage and gas flow rate, so as to these spectra analysis and calculation, a better understanding of the plasma characteristics. In this paper, the concept, classification, generation and development of plasma are introduced. Brief introduction of plasma generator experimental device and experimental process, focus on the plasma emission spectrum and the emission spectrum method for measuring nitrogen molecular rotational temperature, based on the experimental data and the theoretical calculations successfully calculated the rotational temperature of nitrogen molecules under different input voltage and gas flow rate, provide the new data for the study on the laboratory plasma generator, and has laid the foundation for the further study on the plasma.
