The Statistics Of Academic Papers Published Time Behavior And Scaling Features Of Citation

The behavior of publication and quotation of paper is very important,which has been received widespread attention. We investigate the citedtimes of the paper that published in Nature’s Report column, which startsfrom February1997to December2008. Based on the statisticaldistribution of the cited paper number, the paper acceptance timedistribution, and the correlation distribution between cited number andreceive time, we can analyze the scaling characteristic of receive timedistribution of cited papers. The main contributions are summarized asfollows:1. Review the development history of human dynamics for morethan ten years, including the present situation, bottle-necks and existedproblems in national and overseas research. Meanwhile, discussingcitation network mode which put forward recently. 2. In order to understanding of the new relevant research dynamic,this article summarizes the latest research results of citation network, andit also introduces the present situation and the measures of the delay inpublication of papers.3. In this paper, through the statistics from the accept time of paperin Nature’s Report column from February1997to December2008, it isconcluded that Nature publication to accept the Report columns timedistribution obeys exponential decay distribution, M ()~e,and0.015. The result is different from the distribution of internet transferfile size.4. From February1997to December2008, papers published inNature’s Report columns within three years after the number of citedpapers of empirical statistical analysis, it is concluded that Nature’sReport column papers published within three years after the cited articlenumber distribution obeys exponential decay distribution,N(k)~e k,and0.017.5. From February1997to December2008, the accepted time ofNature’s Report column published papers accepted time and the numberof cited papers within three years after the correlation of the empiricalstatistical analysis, we found that paper cited article number and acceptwithin three years of time into the slope linear decline, of0.42(slope) andaccept more than320days of papers published within three years after the average cited article number will be less than5.6. According to the published articles within three years after thenumber of cited papers are divided into several cited article numbersegment, the statistical analysis of the cited in the number of papersaccepted time distribution, found in the number of papers cited theacceptance of time distribution of scaling law, indicating different in thenumber of papers cited accept time distribution with potentiallyassociated with common characteristics.
