| Man-land relationship has long been the core issues of geography, economics and landscape ecology. With regard to environmental management, it is also an important content. The relationship mainly manifests studies on landscape pattern and ecosystem services in the subject of landscape ecology. Although scholars launched a lot of research on spatial characteristics of the landscape pattern, contents of the assessment system and methods for ecosystem services, rare studies have tapped into the relationship between structure and services of the landscape systems. Based on the landscape ecology theory, this paper illustrated Chongming Dongtan as a case and launched a study on landscape pattern and dynamic changes by applying geographic information systems(GIS) technology. The aim of this thesis was to build Dongtan landscape services index systems for landscape analysis, its spatial characteristics and the value assessment.In this paper, two phases of SPOT5 remote sensing images which were recorded in 2003 and 2012 were employed to analyze Dongtan landscape pattern. The study found comparably stable components for Dongtan landscape structures, laying a foundation for assessment researchon landscape services. Farmland landscape dominance is obvious while building land area is the smallest with simple patch shapes. Second, by tentatively building landscape services index system for Dongtan area and to analyze spatial features for landscape services, the study found: 1. different views of the landscape serve different service functions. The closer landscape is to eastern regions of Dongtan, the more diverse landscape services are. 2. From the perspective of the diversity of landscape services, overall diversity of Dongtan area is relatively low-leveled. As for the degree of service variety, that for the natural landscapes is superior to that of the artificial landscapes. 3. In view of the relation analysis on landscape types and services, landscape services in Dongtan area have rather high complexity in structures. Specifically, higher complexity for reed landscapes is found compared with any other subtypes. Finally, the paper evaluates Dongtan’s overall landscape services and its sub-areas by applying the related evaluation method. Key findings are: 1. Dongtan regional service landscapes value the sum of RMB 1,033,067,400. Assessed by the value of landscape services categories, the sequence goes like: supply services> ecological services> supporting services> cultural services. Sorted according to the landscape services index, the sequence is: the aquaculture> air conditioning> agricultural production> water regulation> birds and wildlife habitats> bird watching> science education> reed output. 2. In the study area, the per unit area value of nature reserves are superior to reclamation areas. In detail, per unit area for reclamation values 34,300 yuan / hm2, while nature reserve unit area values 74,700 yuan / hm2.The evaluation on the landscape characteristics and its worth from the perspective of human society can provide certain bases for Dongtan development, utilization and protection. In the process of its exploration and regulation management, to promote the environmental protection and sustainable development in Dongtan, the principle of sustainable and conservation-oriented development should be adhered to, which leads to the rational exploration as well as utilization on the basis of ecological protection. |
