The process of rapid urbanization has made roads and underground pipelines inthe state of overload in our country. A large number of infrastructures are on the vergeof aging and underground space is facing the excessive exploitation and utilization, which may threaten public lives and property anytime. Ground penetrating radardetection technology is very suitable for such disease detection for its highefficiency, continuity, nondestructiveness, economy and easy operation, and it is aneffective method for shallow detection and often used in engineering application. As more and more scholars devote themselves to the research of ground penetratingradar, the technology has been continuously improved and developed, and it has wideapplication prospect. From the current application effect, some divergences about interpretation of theimage still exist. Everyone’s knowledge base, knowledge of the principles andmethods of different depths and accumulated experience, the image interpret ationdiscrimination will vary. So it is particularly important to build image database ofcommon object underground, the correct interpretation of radar images, improvementof its efficiency and accuracy, automatic identification and interpretation has been aresearch hotspot. The research on technology of ground penetrating radar detectionwhich is used to detect defects, hollow and potential disease of urban undergroundspace has important practical significance and application value when used forpotential disease prevention and evaluation of the urban road. The penetrating radar detection and interpretation of potential disease in urbanunderground space without excavation was investigated in the thesis. In theexperiment, in order to obtain more accurate image, different materials was used tosimulate insidious disease target and soil was used as medium to make theenvironment around more close to the actual environment. In different conditions ofdepth, spacing, shapes and frequency antennas, radar images of common target wereobtained, analysis and comparison of radar images rules and characteristics to formeffective radar map eventually. This technology can be used to detect and monitorunderground potential disease so that we can take actions before it causes damage; ithas positive effect for long-term quality maintenance of the engineering, and matter for improving the accuracy of image interpretation discrimination.
