We laid the five sampling section, respectively, in July2011, April2012, October andJanuary2013in the intertidal of Fengming island of Dalian. We collected of benthic algaeused both quantitative and qualitative collection methods, and characterized the diversity ofalgae used diversity index, Pielou evenness index, Margalef richness index. With statisticalanalysis, we explored species composition of algae, structure characteristics and seasonalchanges and the diversity of communities of the waters.Survey identified74species of benthic macro-algae, among them,42Genus arebelonged to4phylums, rhodophyta were mainly in species composition.43species belong torhodophyta, was account for58.1%;15species belonged to chlorophyta, was account for20.3%;15species belong to phaeophyta, was account for20.3%;1specie belongs toCyanophyta, was account for1.3%.The result of level structure indicated that there were differences of species according todifferent sampling sections and seasons, vertical structure indicated that the number of speciesin low-tide zone was the most, followed by middle-tide and high-tide zone. The characteristicof seasonal variation indicated that the number of species in spring was the most, followed bythat in summer, winter and autumn. Moreover, rhodophyta was the dominant species. Thebenthic macro-algae of Fengming Island mainly composed of temperate species, and coldtemperate species in number was superior to warm temperate species. The biomass in summerwas the most, followed by spring, winter and autumn. As the result, the species diversity andcluster analysis varied with seasons and sampling sections, the diversity index and evennessindex and species richness index in spring and summer were superior to those in autumn andwinter.
