Since the beginning of60’s, Geological workers across the country are widely researchthe earth science and the mineral resource exploration, has accumulated a large of data. Butthe traditional method of data storage and management, which characterized by paper mapsand documents management, is no more satisfied with the requirements of the development ofthe mineral resources data management. With the rapid development of electronic governmentaffairs, spatial database, GIS and Computer Network technology, how to realize the scientificmanagement and efficient use of mineral resources data becomes an important task in currentresearch of geology and mineral resources. Based on the above background, this paperestablishment of mineral resources planning spatial database for xi′an as an example, adoptsobject-oriented design method, combined with planning, makes a thorough discussion andpractice on the construction of spatial database.First of all, This paper discusses the related concepts and methods of space databasedesign, analyses the main content and process of the mineral resources planning, on this basis,discussed the related data content; Second, using the object-oriented design method constructsthe concept of mineral resources planning spatial database model, defines related classes andanalyses the relationships. completes the conceptual design, logical design and physicaldesign; Third, by analyzing the database process and results, formulates a quality inspectionrules, using the method of defect inspection evaluate the data quality. Finally, using CaseTools and intermediate conversion XML file makes the UML model import in ArcGIS,generates an empty Geodatabase by design standard; combined with the data source of xi ’anmineral resources, completes the design scheme and realizes the establishment of mineralresources planning spatial database.
