Lingchuan Wangmangling National Geopark, Shanxi, is located at the southeast of Lingchuan, Jincheng city, Shanxi province. In this park, the geological heritage is rich, the culture has a long history and the plants and animals are rare. These all have provided a wealth of material basis for the tourism development and economical improvement in Lingchuan. At the same time, that has put forward higher requirements to protect geoheritage and manage large data.This article studies the regional geographical, geology and socio-economic conditions of Lingchuan Wangmangling National Geopark, Shanxi. Through the studies of classification of tourism resources and geoheritage resources at home and abroad, the tourism resources can be classified to three large types: geoheritage resources, Cultural and historical resources, plant and animal resources. The geoheritage resources can be classified to three large types (landscape category、geological structure category、paleontology category) and seven types. The author analyzes the causes of geoheritages.GIS has the functions of mass storage, spatial analysis and information inquiry. It has been good used in land-use, urban planning, transportation and environmental protection. This paper discusses the status and trends of the database technology and studies the technology of database design based on a large number of references. Through the needs analysis of the database design, based on the platform of GIS and Microsoft SQL Server, this paper design the database of Lingchuan Wangmangling National Geopark, Shanxi.The image registration and digital processing is finished by ArcMap of ArcGIS Version 9.3. It uses ArcCataloge to found graphical data in the form of shapefile and store the point, line, polygon file in different layer. I do the conceptual design, logical design, functional design of the spatial database, set up the data model and devise the E-R figure. Devise the table’s structure of the property database in SQL Server 2000, and make sure the data type and length of the field according to the data model. Using ArcSDE technology, I pull the spatial database into relational database. At last, implement the connection of spatial database and property database.
