The information literacy of the travel agency is a kind of inherent viability. A travel agency with strong information literacy will certainly have competitive advantages in many aspects, such as production, business and administration. Now, more and more experts and managers of travel agencies have realized that information has become a very important factor for travel agency to achieve competitive advantages. However, most travel agencies just focus on information technology, they do not have any systematic thoughts about information literacy. As a result, their information literacy is still weak. In fact, the use of information technology is only one aspect of information literacy. So we must make systematic research on information literacy of the travel agency in order to promote the competitive ability of the travel agency comprehensively.Using the method of qualitative analysis and the quantitative investigation, this paper makes some researches on the following aspects:In chapter 1, the author analyses the current status and deficiency of information literacy of travel agency both from home and abroad, then explains the goal and the significance of making the research, and at the end of this chapter puts forward the overall framework and researching methods.In chapter 2, the author makes qualitative analysis about the information literacy of the travel agency. Firstly it elaborates the functions and the operational principle of information in travel agencies. Secondly it analyses the information consciousness ability, the information acquisition ability, the information arrangement ability, the information analysis ability, the information communication ability and the information technology application ability, respectively, which constitute the information literacy of the travel agency.In chapter 3, the author makes quantitative analysis about the information literacy of the travel agency. The paper designs for the evaluation of the travel agency information literacy some second-rank indexes falling into six major types with twenty third-rank indexes. It puts emphasis on characters and features of different indexes. Using degree-analysis it constructs an index system for information literacy evaluation and using fuzzy degree-analysis it constructs a system for the information literacy evaluation of the travel agency.In chapter 4, the author advances some proposals and four measures, i.e. broadening the information sources, enhancing the introducing and training of information personnel, establishing information department and rebuilding the production process through information technology.The innovation of this paper consists in its choosing the travel agency as studying object, discussing how to improve the operational and administrative ability and competitive ability of the travel agency from the special view of information literacy and attempting to set up a theory frame for research on information literacy of the travel agency.
