Regional Main Grain Comparative Advantage Analysis System

China is a country with a large population and severe lack of agricultural resources, especially cultivated land resource. There is great difference in regional economic society and natural conditions as well as in agricultural production resources of different regions. Agricultural production is of great regional characters and product differentiation. Accordingly, different regions or areas have different advantages in terms of developing agricultural production. Diversified resource gift and regional difference in society, economy and culture decide not only the difference of China's agricultural production structure and level of labor productivity, but also the comparative advantage difference in agricultural products in different regions and pattern of regional agricultural product division and trade.As for no comparative advantage analysis system developed for agricultural products in all counties in China, this paper focuses on the county's Agricultural Economic Basic Material Database to discuss on how to use comparative advantage theory to design regional grain comparative advantage analysis system, thus providing researcher and decision maker a powerful tool to offer assistant information for the county's agricultural industry structure adjustment. The system applies comparative advantage index calculation method to rapidly provide users with relevant information and analysis of grain production comparative advantage among regions or in certain region, and hopes to properly organize and use the information in the Agricultural Economic Basic Material Database to fully exert its potential value in computer application in agriculture, agricultural economic research, etc.Regional major grain crops comparative advantage analysis system consists of information maintenance subsystem, information query subsystem, index calculation & presentation subsystem, comparison & analysis subsystem and system help subsystem. In which, the information maintenance subsystem is responsible for input and maintenance of system basic data;information query subsystem can query information by year and by variety;index calculation & presentation subsystem—the core of index calculation by integrated comparative advantage index calculation method, counts the advantage index of production scale, production efficiency and integrated comparison of different varieties by year in different counties through the installed statistic data in the system;comparison & analysis subsystem is the key for the system to realize the major grain crops comparative advantage information analysis in the region and the subsystem contains four functions—index ordering, comparison among different regions, regional comparison and time series comparison.This paper takes example for rice, wheat, corn and soybean—main grain in Hebei, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan in the three major grain producing areas, and use comparison & analysis subsystem for case analysis based on actual data, to support and develop the paper's theory frame and technical application, and review and validate the system's functions.
