Study On Moderate Scale Of Chinese City Based On Demonstration Analysis

As an economic sight, the city is a highest representation for dimensional economic system pattern;it's also the result of social economic collection. The level of urbanization is an important symbol of level of economic development of a country or an area. From 1978 to 2004, Chinese urbanization level had grown from lower than 18% to 41.8%. Chinese urbanization has developed into a flying seedtime. Through long-term of academic discussion and practical exploration, quicken up Chinese urbanization has been the mainstream viewpoint.Urban population scale is embody of urbanization level, is the basic problem of urban development and management, and is the chief factor for deciding the scale of ground infrastructure, is the basic data of urban energy sources exploration. The study of urban population scale has received more and more regards in order to achieve the optimization and harmonious development of population and city. Study shows that when the city is too big it's easy to result in the problems of population crowd, traffic jam, environmental pollution, bad social order and so on. On the other hand, if the city is too small, it will also bring in those of repeat investment, repeat build, low usage of public service, waste of common resources and so on. Too small or too huge will all bring unhealthy problems to city. So, in the key era that urbanization quicken up, it's important and meaningful to choose moderate urban scale and actualize reasonable urbanization strategy for expanding inner needs, driving national economic growth, optimizing economic structure between urban and country, promoting healthy national economic cycle and harmonious development of society. But the fact is that in the dilemma, many town planners are at loose ends when face the problem how to make right choice of urban scale and way of urbanization.In this paper, the writer will try to use urban economic and mathematical principle, look urban scale benefit as basis to judge the moderate urban population scale, choose 25 indexes from two aspects of society and economy,collect 2003' develop data of 270 Chinese up-terra-class cities to construct national economic estimate index system of Chinese urban scale benefit. Then use SPSS 12.0 to process factor analysis and nonlinear regression to study the relationship between Chinese urban scale and Chinese urban scale benefit.Through the research, we can conclude that the moderate population scale of Chinese city in nowadays is between 500,000,000 and 600,000,000. We also discover the problems of many Chinese cities — small scale, low quality and limited functions. It's necessary for many Chinese cities to scale up.However, in my opinion, to each Chinese city, when decision makers process the choice of moderate urban scale and way of development, they should first recognize the principle of Chinese urbanization, use the conclusion above as conference to ascertain its moderate scale according to real resources status, develop goal and function of a city. Then recognize the restrict bottleneck of its scale-up to achieve its healthy development based on advancement of science and technology, reason arrangement of rules. No how walk up to branch road of blind outstretch.In the end, the scale choosing and developing of Taiyuan city is discussed as an example.
