In recent years, peasant workers have become a new social colony. However, peasant workers' social security yet still has not been attended to by anybody. This not only seriously hinders the course of industrialization and urbanization of our country, but also causes many hidden troubles for social instability. Social security of peasant workers in cities is an important issue in the urbanization process of China. Incorporating them into the social security system at the earliest possible date can help quicken the deagriculturalization process of rural labor and alleviate current pressure on endowment insurance in cities. There are many difficulties in establishing social security system for peasant workers, the main reason being structural frictions and contradictions between the new and old systems. The paper analyses actualty of social security of peasant workers at first. Then it discusses the necessity and significance of peasant workers' social security, and gives some political suggestions in the end. Adapting to characteristics of peasant workers in unstable income and low financial capability, we should establish low-rate, low-treatment, flexible and convenient institutional arrangements and implementing regulations.
