Research On The Problems Of China's Textile And Clothing Export

As the largest textile and clothing exporter in the world, textile and clothing is an important traditional pillar industry of China. The persistent and steady growth of textile and clothing export plays an indispensable role in the assurance of China's foreign exchange reserves, balance of payments, stabilization of Renminbi exchange rate, solving unemployment and the consistent development of textile industry. In spite of great achievement made in textile and clothing, with the international market change and its own defect of this industry, China meets great difficulties in textile and clothing export. After the abolition of textile quota system in 2005, the export of textile and clothing, which had been limited for a long time, should have been developing soundly with this opportunity. However, as a matter of fact, major importing countries and regions of China's textile and cloth have carried out different kinds of restraints on its export. It is indicative that the competition of textile and clothing in international market will become more and more intense. Therefore, how to enlarge our textile and clothing export is an important problem facing China's textile and clothing industry.Based on lots of statistics, starting from China's textile and clothing export status quo, this paper expounds and analyzes the cause of formation of foreign major problems facing China's textile and clothing export—the limits of special clauses, regional integration of international trade, technical barrier, frequent anti-dumping. Besides, analysis has also been given on technical backwardness, unreasonable product structure, over concentration of export market, reduction of international competitiveness and large quantity but low price. On this basis, countermeasure and suggestion are put forward on strengthening China's textile and clothing export.
