The rapid development of modern logistics Industry today results directly from the new trend of economic globalization, more frequent international trade activities and further segmentation in specialization. As the global economic-cooperation increase largely, the international transportation agent industry has grown rapidly and now already became a mainstream of the international trade and transportation economic services. Thanks to China Government strong supports and favorable policies stipulated. Chinese transportation agent Industry, though with its short history, has been expanding promptly within the last decade. Recently, along with more and more major international logistics companies are subsequently entering into China Market, the competition within the industry has been greatly intensified. Therefore, one of key issues faced by each of big logistics companies is: how to select the transit-station location and scheme site layout in order to minimize the risks in process of station setting-up and to achieve profit maximization. This dissertation takes DTW-Fedex as a research target and provide a case study for DTW-fedex station location selection meanwhile it includes some analysis on the logistics station locating and risks of site construction on basis of site selection and risks analysis theories. In addition to a simple introduction to DTW-Fedex background, the article's research focus on the application of the location and risk-analysis theory on the warehouse locating (taking Tianjing station site selection as a case study); comparisons among thelocations methods of "centroid ", "Baumol-wolfe model" and "genetic algorithms" as well as other approaches of site selection ; risk analysis strategies proposed to mitigate and avoid the warehouse construction risks.Through the above-mentioned applied research, the author aims to find out a feasible way to carry out the DaTian's project. Moreover it is hoped that the conclusion/results drawn from the research can do its contributions to the development of logistics research and provide useful reference for DTW-Fedex and other logistics companies.
