Due to the network delay, conventional controllers cannot achieve satisfactory results in network control system. This paper studies the co-design of control and communication which based on PROFIBUS.The paper makes a tentative exploration on the co-design of control and communication in network control system. In light of the characters of PROFIBUS network, the "1-n" processing model of high priority is set up, and the maximal transmitting delay is formulated, based on which the Self-adaptive Fuzzy Smith Controller is designed to compensate the maximal transmitting delay of PROFIBUS network by adopting the Smith predictor with regular delay. The simulation results show that the proposed method can work satisfactorily.The paper gives a detailed description of the configurations of network and monitor system, hardware components, realization of control algorithm of the liquid level system. Based on host-slave architecture of PROFIBUS-DP, the program takes S7-300 PLC(made by Siemens) and Process Control System as the control core and controlled subject. In the final, experiments show that the Self-adaptive Fuzzy Smith Controller has superiority in its application.
