The embedded video server is one embedded devices that can provide network video transmission and sharing .It is designed for building up high-reliability multimedia digital monitoring systems. It is contrived by embedded integrated structure, used high-performance of embedded microprocessors as CPU, and geared embedded real-time operating system (RTOS) as the processing-oriented of soft. That integrates video/audio compression, network transmission, control interface of video monitor system, alarm signal input/output and other features. video and audio signal were collected,compressed and compounded, then, these video and audio compressed data stream are converted to network IP packet and emplemented real-time network transmission using TCP/IP protocol. So that, users are able to specify the site through the network of real-time image and sound information at anywhere they are. In addition, TCP/IP network connection also enable remote configuration of video servers and for camera, control interface of video monitor system, and other ancillary equipment,it can achieve remote control and get status information from far aeras.With the great development of video surveillance technology, embedded video server is widely used in industrial. Video compression technology also develop rapidly. In current,H.264 coding efficiency is higher image compression coding than others, the main settlement is that transmit a certain quality image at lower speeds communication lines, while achieving real-time transmission of multimedia information . The paper introduces the design of the Linux embedded video server which is based on Hi3510. Video and audio signal will be compressed and composed by the coded compression standard H.264, then to be transmitted to the network using RTP/RTCP protocol which can implement the video and audio compressed data stream in real-time network transmission.The function and implementation of each module in this system is analyzed .The whole diagram of hardware and flow chart of the software are also showed in the paper.The hardware designing, it describs the detial of Hi3510 microprocessor,discusses the design of external circuit and the processor memory module (Nor Flash and SDRAM), A / D and network interface module.The software designing, includs primarily introduction of embedded Linux systems and development of applications procedure. First, building up an embedded Linux, centrally includes compilation and transplantation of bootloader and kernel, and construct file system of embedded Linux . second, the emphasis is that it analyse the video capture, compression, encoding and decoding and network transmission with the Linux, in adition the video flow chart is shown, and finally, describ briefly the video display and settings of user terminal.
