International business settlement as an important part of intermediate business of banking industry , it's characteristics including large volume of business, professional knowledge highly required, application extending far and wide and at a high-risk . Foreign bank's experience proved that electronization can be reduced the risk of banking operations effectively and improved business processing efficiency. In 1999, A bank began a development of project of their international business settlement processing system . After more than 3 years hard working, the system put into production. The system for the bank's was developed for a unification of international business settlement processing system and realizes electronization and unification of the bank's international business settlement processing .However, the system designed base on the logical unit for every sigle city , a system for a city, it constitutes a deficiency in centralization of banking operation data, centralization of system development , centralization of integrated bill processing , it's not satisfied with the bank's policy for centralization of integrated bill processing. For this situation, using for reference of foreign bank indusry's experience and business processing models, Software Development Centre made a project to develop banking bills centre system, in order to meet requirement of the bank's policy''centralization of banking operation data, centralization of system development , centralization of integrated bill processing''.First issue to be considered is the newly designed integrated bill center system is going to be visited and inquired by much more users and deal with great larger number of transactions, comparing with the original. By this reason four major concerns raised up during the research and development process, which are user supporting number, transaction dealing capacity in peak hours, the server's operating system and the requirement of its hardware. Moreover, for cost saving reason, it is better to build up the new system base on the older version to achieve a smooth transition. The third aspect will be the potentialities of the system, regarding the rapid growth of banking transactions generated by a fast development in Chinese international trading industry. On account of the above concerns, a test and verification of the old system is necessary in the starting stage to clearly set out the foundation of the new bill center system design. Details of the test include: 1) To confirm the possibility that a re-design can meet the needs in rush hours;2) Identifying the specific software and hardware requirement of the application sever and the datebase sever under frequent processing contributed by more than 1000 users online at a time ; 3) Whether the application sever is able to support F5 to meet requirement of the outbound load balancing, allowing the system load capacity grows as well as the transaction increases. The author established three sets of application servers which are based on Windows, Solaris and AIX respectively. Simulated intensive tests are applied to each of the systems to acquire parameters as transaction time spent, CPU occupation rate, contents used, online user number and the amount of successful transactions under different suggested environments. Precise comparison and analysis indicate that new system modified from the original version can meet the capacity requirement of the integrated bill system. Secondly Windows is proved to have best cost performance, and the author lists the specific configuration that works well for a number of 1000 users. The last conclusion is the application system will be able to support F5 outbound load balancing without any modification and this supporting strategy is ascertained, based on an environment test under Windows operating system.Up till now the foundation of the bill centre system is clearly identified, which is the very important starting stage of the whole process. The conclusion and results will exceptionally contribute to the further developing schedule and capacity assessment.
