In recent years, as the oil becomes the main source of energy of our country's strategy,the amount of exploring oil resource is beginning bigger and bigger. But the difficulty ofexploitation is increasing as the complicated geology condition, so the simulation training forthe drilling workers is necessary. Traditional drilling simulation systems are based onthree-dimensional cartoon or OpenGL and Flash software, but this kind of system has manyproblems, such as the function is single, immerse feeling is not very well, shorting ofinteractive nature, etc. Along with the developing of virtual reality technique in all kinds ofindustry, the method of using virtual reality technique in drilling environment is becomingpossible.After discussing the character, constitution, and the use of virtual reality technique, thisthesis brings forward a new method of modeling the three-dimensional drilling virtualenvironment based on Virtools software, and studies on the building blocks, SDK of Virtoolssoftware. Then write the virtual drilling console program, the socket communication and SQLServer script of Virtools by C++ Builder. The three-dimensional well drilling environment canbe controlled by the virtual drilling console through network. At last, the normal drilling andconnecting single joint are implemented with the virtual environment in drilling simulationsystem.The system is more vivid, has high dynamic interaction ability, and can simulate the realdrilling environment better.
