With the rapid development of computer science and technology, the Data Acquisition System that takes Personal Computer as the control Platform has become the main development trends in current. This thesis takes the advanced performance of Universal Serial Bus with high-speed transmission, engrossing less system resources, easy using, easy expansion, Hot Plug In, Plug and Play to communicate between Personal Computer and the Data Acquisition System, and takes field programmable gate array as an overall controller, and proposes a USB2.0 based data acquisition system design.Firstly, this thesis deeply research the USB 2.0 bus specification, then the design of data acquisition system base on USB2.0 bus is discussed in details in which it contains two parts: hardware design and software. Hardware design section includes USB2.0 interface circuit design, A / D sampling circuit design, power circuit design and FPGA circuit design system; Software design section includes firmware design, driver design and application design. In terms of firmware design, the firmware of USB 2.0 interface chip and FPGA firmware design is discussed. Function driver is the bridge between application software and hardware, and the design process of the WDM (Windows Driver Mode) driver for the USB was introduced here. At last, the application design is to use Visual C + + 6.0 integrated development environment provided by the MFC. Finally, the whole system is tested and the function of the system is validated correctly.In the thesis, the data acquisition system based on the USB bus technology has 8-bits resolution, single channel sample rate is 500KHZ, and the transform rate is 5Mbps.The system not only achieves the data acquisition, transmission and real-time data display capabilities , but also has the attributes of hot plug in, plus and play, and easy to carry. The expect result is achieved.
