Plasma antenna is a new antenna using plasma elements as conductor. Comparing with metal antenna, the novel antenna have low radar cross section (RCS) and weigh less, so it has a highly application value in the military field. The radiation and scattering characteristics of HF Plasma antenna are theoretic studied by making use of numerical methods and the research work mainly includes:(1) The principle of driving plasma antenna by surface wave, the basis theory of surface wave transmitting in plasma column and physical characteristics of plasma antenna are all discussed in the thesis. Furthermore, the wave dispersion relation equations in plasma column have also been solved in the paper, which lay a foundation for our future work.(2) The thesis build the theoretic models of plasma antenna dipole and solve the antenna Electric Parameters of plasma antenna in different plasma parameters by making use of MOM methods base on this model. Then the relationships between plasma parameters and antenna radiation characteristic have been explored.(3) The 2D model has been build and the RCS of plasma column antenna have been calculated by making use of FDTD methods in the thesis. At the same time, effects of plasma parameters and constraint cavity on antenna scattering characteristic are obtained according to the calculation results. At last, some conclusions are summarized based on this thesis and the directions of future research are also point out.
