| Neurosurgery Navigation System, results from the participation of many scientists in different fields such as modern imaging technology, stereotactic technique and advanced computer science, which is used to short the surgery time by preoperative surgical planning and simulation, reduce the operation wound by intraoperative accuracy navigation and objectively evaluate the operation by postoperative analysis of intraoperative data. The using of Neurosurgery Navigation System has not only improved the safety and accuracy of operation, but also updated the concept of surgery and surgical instruments and extended the surgeon's perspective.In this paper, Firstly, the workflow, software and hardware components of Neurosurgery Navigation System are introduced. Secondly, Neurosurgery Navigation System and its three key technologies:the volume data processing and visualization, the stereotaxic technique, spatial registration are represented. The volume data processing and visualization are illustrated, including the volume data acquiring and preprocessing such as image cropping, gray-scale transformation, image smoothing, image filtering, the volume data segmentation and reconstruction. The stereotactic technique is illustrated, including the model of perspective projection, three-dimensional coordinate transformation, camera calibration, binocular stereo vision and the positioning theory of NDI Passive Polaris Locator etc. In the aspect of spatial registration, the coordinate systems of Neurosurgery Navigation System are introducted and a novel image registration method based on balanced VP-Tree(Vantage Point Tree) is proposed after the spatial registration is deeply analyzed. Finally, the designing of software system architecture, flow charts and programs of the data management module, preoperative surgical planning module, intraoperative registration and navigation module of Neurosurgery Navigation System are initially achieved.My contributions in the system are as follows:The first one is that a novel image registration method based on balanced VP-Tree(Vantage Point Tree) is proposed.The second is that the designing of software system architecture, flow charts and programs of the data management module, preoperative surgical planning module, intraoperative registration and navigation module of Neurosurgery Navigation System are initially achieved. |
