China is a country with the largest number of tunnel in the world.Tunnels have brought huge economic benefits for our country, but it also brings security risks.In order to protect people's lives and property, we must have the Tunnel Health Monitoring in the construction and operation period of the Tunnel. Traditional manual monitoring has a lot of disadvantages,such as poor adaptation to the environment,monitoring limitations and it can not be all-weather and intelligence.Another approach is cable monitoring which also have weak points beacause of its' high deployment and maintenance costs and weak stability which is restricted by the cable medium.In order to overcome the shortcomings and meet the application requirements,this thesis is to propose and design a real-time, automated, platform-based health monitoring system for wireless tunnel health monitoring. By laying wireless sensor networks, the parameters of tunnel health monitoring was automatic collected by the wireless sensor nodes and transmitted to the coordinator. At last,the parameters will be processed by the host computer.Obviously,our approach can achieve real-time and intelligent health monitoring of the tunnel.According to the characteristics of the tunnel health monitoring,we have chosen ZigBee as the network solution,and use STMicroelectronics'STM32F103R8 based on Cortex-M3 core and XBee/XBee Pro ZB module from Digi International company,then we designed the unit which is used for collecting the signals which is transmitted by the sensor nodes and the relevant circuit of Micro-controller unit, RF unit and power unit.By making use of the low-power modes of the MCU and RF module, we designed two different kinds of modes for monitoring which are Passive Monitoring and Active Monitoring, then we finished the hardware and software code for these two kind of Monitoring.Compare to the traditional system,our system has some great advantages.First, our system provides a variety of interfaces, different kinds of sensors can be attached; Second,the small size of STM32 and Xbee module promote the miniaturization of the sensor nodes;Third, Cyclic Sleep Mode can reduce system power consumption effectively which can extend battery life of the sensor nodes; at last,the characteristics of zigbee network provides a great convenience for the deployment and maintenance of the network.Our work has great significance for the study of wireless, intelligent, platform-based tunnel health monitoring.
