Using ARM&Linux as the platform and combining with Web Server technology, the RS-485 bus communication has been replaced by the network transmission based on TCP/IP protocol. The proposed approach can improve the monitoring level for the dam safety since it can overcome many shortcomings appear in the existing methods, such as short transmission distance, limited bus loads and low data transmission speed.The main contents of this thesis can be listed as below:(1) Under the background of embedded technology, the analysis of Remote Monitoring System development course and prospect is given. Meanwhile, combining with the Internet transmission theory, a remote data transmission system based on ARM&Linux platform for dam safety is proposed.(2) The hardware system for remote monitoring is developed, in which the processor chip AT91SAN9261 from ATMEL is used. The proposed system includes the power management module, the kernel module, network communication module, serial communication module, LCD panel interface module, keys and light modules, and JTAG debug module. Also, the design of the hardware circuit diagram is completed.(3) Using LineSim of HyperLynx software for the pre-layout simulation, the reasonable stack structure, transmission line impedance and impedance matching are determined. Simultaneously, the quality of the signal is verified through post-layout simulation by BoardSim. The signal time sequence relationship between SDRAM and NANDFLASH is tested in detail. The PCB design of hardware circuit is also completed.(4) The software platform of minimum embedded system is built, including the kernel boot process, kernel, file system, etc.(5) The Mongoose Web server is transplanted to the platform based on the embedded Web server operation principle. The structure of Web server and monitor homepage are given, in which the serial data processing is described in detail. The proposed system has been successfully applied to the remote monitoring of damThe debug results show that the remote data transmission system for dam safety based on ARM&Linux runs stably and achieves the desired design goals.
