WiMAX(Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access),compared with the traditional standard TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and CDMA2000,its maximum transmission radius has reached about 50 km., almost twice the former. In the transmission speed, WiMAX is also unmatched by other 3G standards. In the range of 10 kilometers, the speed of WiMAX network can reach 75Mbps. In addition, WiMAX and other wireless communication systems support a large number of broadband users and a very high rate of air interface, which use MIMO, OFDM and other complex communication signal processing algorithms with dynamic reconfiguration, dynamic scheduling computing resources. So the base station system needs extremly high calculation and interconnection requirements .We have great difficulty and challengs in the realization of this high-performance wireless communication system .A typical wireless baseband system consists of CPU, DSP and FPGA. With a larger raise in the performance of CPU, DSP and FPGA processors ,to improve bus performance is the key to enhancing system performance. Based on the performance requirements of WiMAX and other new wireless communication system,a Wireless baseband system interconnection structure is proposed, which puts TI's TMS320C6455 Chip as the core. This interconnection structure is based on Serial RapidIO and has been applied to WiMAX BBU system and solved the bottleneck of the bus performance. The test results verified the feasibility and reliability of the interconnection . The transmission speed of the system reaches 10Gbps, which can be applied to WiMAX and other new types of wireless base station system.
