Along with development of mobile communication technology and business diversification, wireless data services have showed a promising future. The prospect of data services is getting more powerful and clear particularly since 2009,after the adjustments of charging. It is that the application and development of EGPRS technology brings the rapid expansion of Data services market. In recent years, as an evolution path towards 3G, EGPRS network construction has been taken as the focus of Puyang mobile construction work, and EGPRS network optimization has been carried out in full swing up.In this paper, the EGPRS network characteristics, key technologies and network structure of Puyang was introduced briefly based on the analysis of EGPRS system background. Then, the design and scale of EGPRS network for Puyang was described in detail, which could satisfy the data services requirements of users for 2009, combined with the current network of Puyang network. It mainly includes the network architecture, EGPRS mode selection, air interface business model, PCU configuration, PDCH configuration, network operating mode, Abis interface and Gb interface. In addition, the optimization and implementation of the EGPRS network was also described specifically, which was expanded on the adjustment of PCU and wireless resources, wireless environment, optimization, system parameter optimization, hardware troubleshooting and routine monitoring system abstracted from the EGPRS network optimization results.Data services of Puyang was greatly enhanced after the capacity increasing and optimization of EGPRS network, and the system keeps stable up to now. It has been confirmed that the data services of Puyang have many benefits to end-users through drive test (DT) and call quality test (CQT) time and again.It lays a good foundation for the smooth evolution towards 3G services, and also contributes to keep ahead of competition for the operators.
