Ad Hoc network with the features of distributed,no-center, self-organization, multi-hop routing and flexible networking is one of the hotspots in current wireless communication field, and it has a very broad application prospects.Cross-layer multi-channel assignment in Ad Hoc networks is one of key technologies. This paper comes from a cooperation project with enterprise, having important theoretical and practical significance.By the deep study of the basic principle and key technologies in Ad Hoc network, this paper focuses on the multi-channel assignment problem. Aiming at some problems in existing multi-channel assignment protocols, a cross-layer multi-channel assignment protocol CMA-AODV based on the strategy that exchanges channel status information between MAC layer and route layer is proposed in this paper. In this protocol, based on interference model, nodes sense on all data channels using IEEE 802.11 DCF mechanism at MAC layer, collects data channels status information and establish channel status list within its interference scope real-time, then transmit the information to route layer. Routing protocol in route layer puts the information into route control messages, then passes it between adjacent route nodes, and assigns data channels for link between nodes when building route.Compared with existing multi-channel assignment protocol, the cross-layer multi-channel assignment protocol improves the performance of network throughput, packet dropped rate, latency, control message overhead. Computer simulation results prove that the cross-layer multi-channel assignment protocol is effective. The research fruits in this paper promote the research and development of Ad Hoc network, and has a high reference value.
