Nowadays, with rapid development of network technologies, wireless communication systems in the future are expected to be heterogeneous in terms of networks, abundant in terms of services, and diversiform in the terms of the terminal varieties and functions. One hot spot of communication industry is the interoperation and integration of heterogeneous networks. Meanwhile, fast development of short-range communications technology makes wireless personal area networks (WPANs) deployment more flexible and functions development more broad, and also enriches the service providing modes. The terminal-integrated service environment, based on personal area network (PAN) and wide area network (WAN) integration, is to join the smart terminals and their capacities together with the help of the short-range technologies to form a PAN, and to combine the WAN resource and service platform to provide abundant, personalized and context-aware services, allowing users to get the best service experience. In the environment of integration of PAN and WAN, this thesis mainly researches about network-controlled service platform of context-aware flow control. To sum up, the content of this thesis is arranged in following aspects:First of all, the development trend of future wireless communication is envisaged and the existing researches on PAN technologies and the integration of heterogeneous networks are also presented in this thesis. Based on above investigations, an expanded definition of PAN is introduced. This thesis mainly focuses on IMS technology for Fixed-Mobile Convergence nowadays, and a network flow control service platform is designed according to the characteristics of terminal-integrated service environment. The presented platform introduces a context-aware layer and modified functional entities of the original IMS architecture.Secondly, data structure of context-aware server is designed. An IMS service-presence is studied whose data formats and signaling of the original presence service is extended according to the needs of the context of the server data structures, so that context-aware server can be implemented as a presence service. On this basis, the basic functions of context server are achieved based on JAIN-SIP.Then, a detailed design of flow distribution decision module as well as the flow of the execution is delivered. As the present studies seldom deal with the problem of flow distribution decision, a brief mechanism is investigated, and the simulation shows its validity.A summary is given at the end of this thesis, where the future research directions are also pointed out.
