The dedicated telecommunication systems are widely used nowadays. They can be used for military, electricity, transportation and so on. However, the existing systems can only mainly support the audio transmission, and the new wireless technologies can support the vedio transmission as it is able to provide data transmission in the speed of 10-100Mbps. Therefore, we can use these new technologies to develop the next generation mobile systems which can support not only the audio but video transmission. We developed the broadband mobile communication system in the background of "The implementation and wireless network application of next generation wireless communication system". This system can support the multimedia transmission between base station and mobile station. The mobile station is the key part of this system, and the author is in charge of the design and implemention of MAC protocol for mobile station. The main topic of this thesis is about the design and implement of MAC layer for mobile station. Chapter One introduces the function and structure of broadband mobile communication system, and the author's work. Chapter Two gives the whole function of MAC layer according to IEEE802.16e. The software structure of mobile station is introduced in Chapter Three. Then Chapter Four shows the implemtation of mobile station. To check the validity of the MAC layer, the multimedia data transmission test is introduced in Chapter Five. Finally, Chapter Six makes a conclusion of the development of MAC layer for mobile station and gives some advice for the future development of the dedicated broadband telecommunication systems.
