Design And Implementation Of Showmore For Management Of Large Mumbers Of Documents

Nowadays, computer software has become the most important on the world stage of science and technology area, with the driven of a large number of software applications and the rapid development of Internet, it has made a revolutionary change to many aspects of people's lives. With the proliferation of computers and applications of software products, traditional paper documents have been gradually replaced by electronic documents.The file system of OS provide users with easy access to a standard form, safe and reliable method of managing a variety of documents, document-sharing and the protection of user-friendly "access-by-name", which greatly improve the documents management staff efficiency.People often use the Explorer of Windows XP system manage the electronic documents, the Explorer provides a number of user-friendly features and interface, but in practical research work, there are still some problems.For example:Unable to find a paper with the specific content in a number of papers quickly; Unable to determine whether a document has been read or not; Unconvenient to check out a documents keywords or notes; Unable to search by the documents' keywords or notes; These problems make the work of document managers become monotonous, tedious, and so reduce their working efficiency.This paper aims to study the advantages and disadvantages of Windows Explorer to design and develop an enhanced document management tool, which has excellent document management functions and user-friendly interface like Windows Explorer, and can deal with the above-mentioned problems perfectly. It is named ShowMore that means showing more about the document. In the software development process, I use the software engineering to guide the software solutions design, progress control and software testing. After comparison, this program uses Microsoft's.Net framework, C# language for the development, uses Visual Studio 2005 as the IDE. I do some research in reading and editing the information of documents, and by comparing the recursive traversal and single traversal algorithm, I propose a new double-layer traversal algorithm. In this paper, I make software functional and performance testing, the results show that the software functions correctly, with good performance to achieve the desired purpose.ShowMore inherits the advantages of explorer, and has many innovations.It provides following features:1. Convinience to check and edit the documents' properties, it needs one step to complete a function that needs 2-3 steps by explorer.2. Able to mark the documents have been read.3. Able to classify documents which have been read or not.4. Able to search documents by their name or key words.5. Able to statistics the documents' properties in a folder.
