As the development of mobile communications technologies, users raise higher needs to the contents as well as qualities of mobile communication services. In order to adapt to the global wirelss communication's trend of being much more mobile, wide-band enabled, and IP enabled, and also to compete with a number of novel techniques, such as WiMAX and Wi-Fi, at the end of 2004, after putting forward its HSDPA and HSUPA specifications,3GPP proposed the 3G Long Term Evolution (LTE). Since the time when ITU-R announced the collection of IMT-Advanced specifications on January,2008, each technical party starts to propose its IMT-Advanced specifications from the end of 2008.3GPP, being an individual member, has submitted to ITU its 4G-oriented LTE-Advanced, the system of which would be able to support all functionality of as well as to be backward compatible to LTE.Capacity and Coverage are important criterias when evaluating LTE system. And they are alos the key points in our study. Through the study, we can not only get the characters of capacity and coverage in 3GPP scenarios and the power control optimal points, but also get a series of schemes in ITU-R scenarios to fulfil the ITU target. The study is based on system-level simulation platform. Firstly, we study the open loop power control in 3GPP scenarios in order to show the characters of capacity and coverage with different duplex mode, transmission power and path loss compensation factor. Then we test the performance in ITU-R scenarios. ITU gives the target values of each scenarios. Our schemes can reach the target and get good system performance, especially MIMO scheme.
