Test technology is a basic technology that integrates the implement of information collection, transformation and processing. The basic task of test is to obtain information. As a result, test technology is one of the sources and an important component of the information science. At present, the 2G to 3G transition spreads all over the communication field. And WCDMA is recognized as the most widely used, matures wireless access technology, and the industry chain of which is most consummate. China is one of the most potential countries in the world in the field of communication. Chinese government and industry group regard the standardization of 3G technology highly. The license plate of 3G communication is granted, and more and more WCDMA terminals would be in use. With the further commercial use of WCDMA technology, in order to guarantee the frequency efficiency and validity of all the equipments, and to keep the independent normally working of each equipment and the development of various new technology and services, the consistency test of WCDMA terminals is important.It is becoming crucially important to design a set of auto-testing system to alleviate the pressure on the shoulders of the project operators due to the consuming property of testing. Based on virtual instrument technology, this paper proposed an automatic WCDMA terminal radio consistency testing system capable of instrument operation controlling, where 3GPP34.121 protocols on performances of radio transmitters in mobile phones are applied and satisfied. After one single successful connection, the instrument testing, data collection, display and processing, as well as necessary result saving, can be conducted automatically by the software. Besides, standard report and testing results can be completed and finished according to the instrument state, so that the efficiency can be improved and human error reduced.In this paper, basic theory is introduced. Firstly, the development and structure of the automatic test system is introduced. Then the standards and test items of the automatic test platform design, the definition of test items, and the manual test scheme are introduced. In the fulfillment part of this paper, the development and design of the system software is mainly introduced. By analyzing of the project requirement, the whole frame and scheme is provided, aiming at the compliance of the feature of test and requirement of the customs. The design of the main modules and the implement of the software are also introduced. The functions of each module are specific, as a result, the upgrade and maintenance of the system is easy.
