The Study And Design Of WiMAX/Wi-Fi Network Convergence Technology

Broadband communication technologies such as WiMAX,3G and Wi-Fi draw worldwide attention since they have many advantages and wide applications. The research of convergence technology among heterogenous broadband networks is a hot topic both for now and future. This paper focuses on the research of network convergence technology between WiMAX and Wi-Fi. This topic is of significant theoretical and practical value.In this paper, on the basis of the in-depth analysis of the basic principle and technical features of WiMAX and Wi-Fi network convergence technology, both the basic principles and network framework of mobile IP are explored, focusing on analysis of mobile IP network convergence in the role and its implementation, and on this basis a loosely coupled network convergence method is proposed based on Mobile IP and DHCP, while exploring two different switching strategies on switching performance. Finally an application and demonstration system of the WiMAX/Wi-Fi converged network is realized, and the actual deployment of the experimental network has validated the rationality and feasibility of this program, at the same time the actual performance of different switching strategies is compared by measured data.In the field test, the application and demonstration system ran well and passed the program inspection, and it has revealed a good switching performance in different settings, while significantly reducing the complexity of the mobile terminal and bringing higher-quality user experience. which proved the rationality and feasibility of the network convergence design method. The research results of this article have a good reference value to the further research of WiMAX/Wi-Fi network convergence technology. This paper is divided into four chapters as follows:The first chapter is the overview of the broadband wireless technologies;Chapter two mainly analyses the network structure of WiMAX and Wi-Fi, and the technical feature of mobile IP.Chapter three focuses on the software design and realization of mobile IP, DHCP, and the Dual-mode wireless device driver for a virtual NIC;Chapter four is the conclusion and research prospects.
