With the improvement of people's living standard and the increment of private cars, the demand of alarming and monitoring system are increasing day by day. However the traditional equipments can't supply this demand because of high price, professional operation and single usage. In recent years, the development of SOPC, GPS, GSM/GPRS, and embedded technology make electronic products tend to smart, multifuntions and low-cost, can provide suffcient technology support for design of alarming and monitoring system.Based on FPGA chip of Altera corporation, this paper designs a wireless alarming and monitoring system used in house or vehicle. If only enable monitoring function, the system can save images to SD card and send SMS/MMS which contain image, GPS info to users, while the user can control and set the system by send SMS-Commands. If enable alarming function , according to situation, GPS infomation and image, the sytem can judge whether accidents occur, once a accident is occurred, the system inform user immediately by send SMS and MMS, further more, it can provide GPS information of monitored item continuously.Design can be divided into tow parts as hardware design and software design. The purpose of hardware design is to built system's hardware platform, including image capture module design, GPS interface module design, GSM/GPRS chip's drive circuit design. In order to expand storge capacity, we design a general SD card controller supporting SD1.1 and SD2.0 protocol by using self-adaption method, which offer a higher-capacity and wider-usage storge method for FPGA platform. The purpose of software design is to realize system's fuctions, including send/receive SMS and send MMS, JPEG encode, tranplant of uC/OS-II and tasks design. According to the performance of system and peculiarty of hardware, we change part of FAT32 protocol and coding it, thus offer a new implement of FAT32 file system for small embedded system. What is more, based on Visual Studio2005, we develop a tracking and locating software runed in WM phones, with built-in google map, it can offer more intuitive tracking result.The design can be used for alarming and monitoring of vehicles and indoor situations such as warehouses, laboratories and living rooms. Due to the entire design is completed in a FPGA chip, combines advanced GPS, SOPC, GSM/GPRS technology, and monitoring terminal using most common mobile phones, the system has many advantages such as low-cost, smart-size, convenient-operation and easy-upgrade. Therefore it has good prospects.
