Research On Bimetal Optical Fiber Temperature Sensor Based On CCD

Temperature is the most important and common physical quantity in industrial production and life. In some explosive, strong corrosion, high pressure, high magnetic field and other harsh environments, designing a low-cost and highly reliable temperature sensor for on-line temperature measurement is very important.Based on the analysis of the current development status of temperature sensors, a temperature measuring system is introduced in this paper, which consists of bimetallic strip gage, coded disk, hybrid alignment optical fiber bundle, linear array CCD and data processing system. The uncharged temperature measurement can be achieved by bimetallic strip gage which causes displacement with temperature changed and promotes the code disk rotating at first, the light source being reflected in the code disc, the reflected light with the temperature information through a linear array of fiber bundles being passed out of the scene secondly, the linear CCD and data processing systems counting the number of lighted optical fiber finally.Using bimetallic strip gage to reflect temperature changes, using hybrid alignment optical fiber bundle to transmit optical signal, the design can effectively reduce costs, improve reliability, and electrical insulation. The design for coded disk enables the system to improve the transmitted intensity-modulating optical fiber temperature sensor. Therefore, this design can overcome disadvantages of complexity, low reliability of the traditional electric-measure temperature sensor and some of fiber-optic temperature sensor; it can be used in some special occasions.This paper describes the principles and a design thinking of optical fiber temperature sensor based on CCD, besides provides a data acquisition system approach of the linear array CCD based on CPLD.
