Design And Implementation Of MES Equipment Management System Based On Networked DNC

With the unceasing development of science and technology, manufacturing enterprises attach more importance to the management and integration of their information systems. Theoretically, enterprise information system consists of planning layer, executive layer and control layer. In practice, however, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in the execution layer and Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) system in the control layer cannot be integrated seamlessly, causing a waste of information resources.This paper integrates the networked DNC into MES equipment management system, with the aim of implement the information exchange and collaboration work of the executive layer and the control layer within the entrepreneurial system.Firstly, this paper analyzes the MES equipment management system based on networked DNC. Following this, a communication structure of the system is designed, including making a communication plan, establishing a network architecture and making choices for serial device server; a software structure is also devised, which divides the whole system into eight modules, such as, numerical control file transfer and management module, equipment state management module; then, the system's database is planned based on three aspects, i.e. conceptual design, architectural design and physical design. Furthermore, this paper elaborates on the implementing process of the networked DNC in MES equipment management system, especially in the numerical control file transfer and management module, and equipment state management module. Finally, the validity and availability of the system functions have been proved through the functional test.The MES equipment management system based on networked DNC proposed in this paper lays a foundation for management and integration of the information system for the manufacturing enterprises and it has a promising future for practical application.
