With further maturation of the economy and technology, global communication turns into an unstoppable trend. International communication gradually becomes a new area of study. International communication shows new characteristics and its significance comes to realization. Then, to further facilitate communication and interaction, peoples from the world have to turn to a common language as media. Finally, people returns from letter-centered realism to present audiovisual language-centered empiricism, which shakes off restrictions from nationality, locality, cultures and national borders and establishes its own dominant position in global communication.As an artistic device and its conception mode, audiovisual language has its own communication rules and aesthetic characteristics. It is simply the transmission and communication mode commonly shared by and recognized by human beings. The Olympic Games in 2008, as an unprecedented internatonal communication in the past 30 years since China's reform and opening up, provides the world with an opportunity to gain an all-around understanding of China. Zhang Yimou and his team serve an unparalleled visual feast before peoples from all over the world. They give a perfect explanation of "humanistic Olympics, hi-tech Olympics, green Olympics" as three principles of Beijing Olympic Games, reveal freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting and romance of Chinese national character in a picture, and make a successful visual persuasion.Audiovisual language includes picture, sound and montage. This paper will mainly give an analysis of the three points.Firstly, picture is the central part of the audiovisual language.
