The Ad-hoc Network(MANET) is a particular wireless network without any control centers, which consists of a group of wireless nodes and needn't be supported by the existing infrastructure, and every terminal can move freely and equally. The wireless nodes have the function of host or router, both of which are connected as the same entity. The Ad-hoc Network has been one of the hot in the field of mobile communication research. The mobile nodes are portable equipment powered by batteries,so the durability of nodes is limited, and the energy problem needs to be solved imperatively in the research filed of mobile Ad-hoc Network. This thesis analyzes and compares the tipical Ad-hoc Network routing protocols with NS2,and then proposes a new energy-saving Ad-hoc routing protocol--MRL. Comparing with the tipical one,the simulation result shows that the new protocol provides better feasibility and effectivity. The main contribution of this thesis is listed as follows:This thesis introduces the history of mobile Ad-hoc Network, as well as he definition, features and main applications of that, and then represents the current problems of mobile Ad-hoc Network researching in the aspects of network bandwidth, mobile node energy and wireless network security . In Chapter 3,this thesis classifies the protocols of mobile Ad-hoc Network, and introduces three tipical routing protocols ,and points out the considerable problems in the course of designing mobile Ad-hoc Network protocol.Chapter 4 introduces NS2 network simulation software in order to verify the routing protocols of mobile Ad-hoc Network, and outlines the composition of NS2 and simulation principle. And then analyzes the results of experimental data in recv/send rate,end-to-end delay and routing overhead, which provides proof for the later routing protocol improved on the basis of energy saving mechanism and protection strategy. Finally, the thesis presents a new routing protocol which can achieve energy protection strategy by estimating survival time of node and calculating route life. Chapter 5 elabarates the design methodology and optimization scheme of this new algorithm, and presents the process of MRL algorithm in NS2. And next designs the simulation experiments in both static and dynamic network environments by comparing MRL and AODV in different load. The new protocol plays the role of protecting mobile node energy and prolonging the life of mobile network, which has great significance in the research of energy conservation of mobile Ad-hoc Network.
