Informationization is the indispensable device for the modern armed forces. This paper introduces the design and implementation of embedded secure military communications terminal, which is used to improve the combat capability of troops. The terminal system is mainly to provide the armed forces in the modern battlefield with the high security mobile devices, which is portable, and has features such as map browsing, navigation and instant messaging. According to the battlefield information provided by the Terminal system, the forces with the terminal can communicate with the superiors or other Brothers force by IM, then analyse the war situation and develop the operational plans rapidly. It can be used for the forces to achieve the information warfare system. The Geographical Information System (GIS) in this paper adopts the system architecture of Client/Server (C/S) structure. The military geographic information can be stored, maintained and updated in server, which keeps the GIS in high security. This paper emphasises on the perfection of the client's procedures and the improvement of the functional efficiency. The J2ME technology greatly helps the achievement of client in the embedded platform. The Instant Messaging System designed in this paper is based on open source Jabber protocol, which has strong extensibility. The Openfire server used in the paper is the best one to achieve the XMPP protocol. So it can reduce the development cost and cycle effectively. For the client is realized with J2ME technology, the system has a good cross-platform and portability.Furthermore, in order to meet the high security requirements in military environment, we use encryption techniques in the terminal to implement the secrecy of map data. By using DES (Data Encryption Standard) arithmetic's encryption and decryption in the client, the system accomplished the encryption transmission of military data. Finally, the paper discusses how to the deal with Noise Suppression in the military environment. The paper analysis the most two critical aspects of Noise Suppression: Voice Activity Detection (VAD) and Speech enhancement. A research into an effective noise reduction algorithm in a high noise environment is proposed.
