At present, hypertension, Cerebral sclerosis, Coronary arteriosclerosis and other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are the main cause of death and disability for Chinese old people. Human retinal blood vessels as a deeper level of microvascular, its morphological structure changes are closely related to initial characterization of the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Studying the method how to accurately obtain the value of retinal vascular diameter contribute to providing date basis for early diagnosis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The study has important medical value and board application prospect.The study of retinal blood vessel detection for medical applications based on windows system platform focus on optimizing existing algorithms of retinal diameter measurements and then designing retinal vascular diameter measurement system that runs in Windows system. Primarily, morphological characteristics of blood vessels on retinal image are comprehensively analyzed, and thus designing the dedicated approach and implementation process for diameter measurement of blood vessels on retinal image. Subsequently, the related processing algorithms applied in diameter measurements of retinal image are divided into two parts: one is the part of retinal image preprocessing algorithms; the other is the part of retinal blood vessel diameter directly measurement algorithms. Among them, the algorithm of automatically detecting the diameter of blood vessel based on the center point of retinal blood vessel is proposed. Finally, the series of retinal vascular caliber quantization algorithms are realized by using the Visual Studio and OpenCV as system development tools from the view of software design. The framework of system is based on dialog box mode. Image input and output interface are simple and universal, supporting for popular image formats to read and save.Retinal blood vessel diameter measuring system based on Windows system platform is simple and convenient for users'operation with a good human-computer interaction interface. The system provides medical workers with aid for clinical and theoretical research, overall being well practical.
