Design And Implementation Of Automatic Evaluation System Of Multimedia Works

With the development of multimedia technology, multimedia technology in education has gradually become the main content of teaching at home and abroad. Grading students' assignments of multimedia work is the key step in the "multimedia making" courses. For the students designed multimedia operations (such'as: Photoshop images, Flash animations) are given artificial method of judging works of good or bad. This is not only a laborious, tedious and time-consuming task, but also difficult to avoid manual errors. Hence, it is necessary to automate the grading procedure for the purpose of reducing workload and subjectivity.There have been many well-done auto-evaluations for all kinds of objective problems, office operation subjects and programming subjects,but it still rarely inolved in multimedia works because of the complexity of the document recognition and difficulties in the artistic,creative and reflect the subjective factors.At present,only Authorware-evaluation has been fulfilled successfully. By analysing the Document Object Model of Photoshop and Flash documents,this paper introduces a set of methods for auto-evaluating Photoshop images and Flash animations, which include multi-level indicator systems and fuzzy matching evaluation strategies for multimedia assignments.Main tasks are as follows:1) Photoshop and Flash Document Object Model and the Application Program Interface of both are studied to demonstrat the possibility of auto-evaluation.2) After consulting great deal of literatures and using methods of grading assignments of multimedia work for reference, multi-level indicator systems and fuzzy matching evaluation strategies for multimedia works' auto-evaluation are put forward, which provides theoretical basis for examination paper generating and marking.3) In accordance with Photoshop, Flash API, VBScrip and JavaScript are choosed to realize the tools which can convert Photoshop or Flash documents to texts.It's the key step of this research and there are many difficuities too.4) Photoshop and Flash are softwares in most common use and they are representative to image and animation editing respectively,therefore, it is important actual significance and practical application value to design and develop automatic evaluation system based on them.Moreover,during the development of the System,practicability and reliability are emphasized, a fault-tolerant algorithm for correlativemistake caused by thewrong operation is presented,so the Automatic Evaluation System of Multimedia Work Assignments (AESMWA) has been successfully employed in the high school graduating test of Zhejiang Province, China. Application results show its excellent performance in both efficiency and accuracy.
